State League wrap-up: Round 15

VFL

Geelong 19.12 (126) def. Coburg 6.5 (41)

Geelong took the four points in its battle against Coburg with a convincing 85-point win. Sam Dobson kicked six goals for the Cats, while Jamaine Jones bagged five. Brandan Parfitt was also good, recording 26 disposals, 10 tackles, and a goal.

Liam Hunt was Coburg's best, he had a massive day with 48 touches and a goal.

Port Melbourne 16.9 (105) def. Casey 5.10 (40)

Port Melbourne has continued its brilliant season with a win over Casey. Toby Pinwill was fantastic with 32 disposals and a goal, while Dylan Conway kicked four majors.

Jay Kennedy-Harris put in a good effort for Casey, finishing with 25 touches and a goal, while Corey Maynard had 32 disposals and laid 16 tackles.

Essendon 10.14 (74) def. by Richmond 12.8 (80)

Anthony Miles (36 disposals) was again excellent as Richmond got past Essendon by a goal. Taylor Hunt was also good, he had 28 touches and managed to hit the scoreboard with a goal.

David Myers was one of the Bombers' best with 35 disposals, while Jackson Merrett slotted three goals.

Collingwood 13.7 (85) def. Footscray 12.8 (80)

Anthony Bruhn had an opportunity late to tie the game for Footscray, but couldn't do it, meaning Collingwood took the four points. Jarryd Blair was great for the Pies, he had 24 touches and seven tackles. Ben Reid was also solid with 20 disposals and a goal.

Matthew Boyd (22 touches) was again solid for Footscray, while Tim English (16 touches and 24 hit-outs) also did some good things.

Northern Blues 6.19 (55) def. by Box Hill 11.11 (77)

Ty Vickery bagged another three goals as Box Hill stayed on top of the ladder with a 22-point win over the Northern Blues. Brendan Whitecross also performed well for the Hawks, he had 25 touches and also managed to kick a major.

Blaine Boekhorst had a lot of it for the Blues, finishing the game with 37 disposals.

Sandringham 17.6 (108) def. Werribee 14.18 (102)

A late run from Werribee was not enough, as they went down to Sandringham by just six points. Tom Hickey impressed for the Zebras, he had 21 disposals, 52 hit-outs, and kicked a goal. His teammate Shane Savage was also very good with 38 touches and two goals.

Nick Larkey bagged four goals for the Tigers, while Will Fordham had 25 disposals and two goals.

WAFL

West Perth 4.12 (36) def. by Subiaco 6.11 (47)

Corey Adamson had 22 disposals and two goals in his team's low-scoring win over West Perth. Kyal Horsley (28 disposals and 12 tackles) was also very good for Subiaco.

Luke Meadows was one of West Perth's best, finishing the game with 28 disposals and six tackles.

East Perth 16.7 (103) def. East Fremantle 6.6 (42)

Scott Lycett (67 hit-outs) and Jonathan Giles (55 hit-outs) dominated in the ruck as East Perth smashed East Fremantle. Patrick McGinnity also had a big day for the victors, collecting 37 touches and kicking a goal.

Cameron Eardley put in a good display for East Fremantle with 33 disposals and ten tackles.

Peel Thunder 8.5 (53) def. Claremont 6.15 (51)

Peel just got over the line against Claremont, claiming a two-point win. Ryan Nyhuis had 30 touches for the victors, while Zac Dawson was also among the best.

Jye Bolton played a good game for Claremont, finishing with 29 disposals, however, it could have been better as he kicked 0.3.

Perth 9.12 (66) def. by Swan Districts 11.7 (73)

Swan Districts have come from behind in the last quarter to get past Perth by seven points. Adam Faulkner finished with 25 disposals for the victors.

Clinton Jones was up to his old tricks again for Perth, he had 36 disposals.

SANFL

Central District 21.10 (136) def. Glenelg 6.3 (39)

Nick Holman put on an absolute display for Central District, kicking five goals and racking up 38 disposals in the win. Isaya McKenzie also hit the scoreboard with five goals of his own.

Despite the heavy loss, Dom Barry had a good outing for Glenelg. He finished the game with 23 disposals and two goals.

Eagles 12.13 (85) def. Port Adelaide 8.10 (58)

The Eagles surprised some people claiming a solid win over Port Adelaide. Jake Johansen was among the best, recording 27 disposals and two goals.

For Port Adelaide, Jimmy Toumpas had 27 touches while Brett Eddy kicked three goals.

North Adelaide 16.6 (102) def. South Adelaide 7.16 (58)

Lewis Hender kicked five straight goals as North Adelaide breezed past their counterparts from the south.

Despite suffering a heavy loss, Matt Rose put in a good game. He had 28 disposals and eight marks.

Sturt 17.17 (119) def. Adelaide 10.7 (67)

Sturt's inaccuracy saved Adelaide from being on the end of an incredibly ugly loss. The game was a tight contest before Sturt pulled away in the final quarter and a half.

Tom Pinyon kicked four goals for the Crows, while Andy Otten chipped in with two.

Norwood 14.11 (95) def. by West Adelaide 14.15 (99)

A huge final quarter from Norwood was not enough, as they went down to West Adelaide by just four points. Logan Hill was terrific for the Bloods, finishing the game with 32 touches and two goals.

Former Crow Mitch Grigg performed well, he had 35 disposals and kicked a goal.

NEAFL

Sydney Uni 10.7 (67) def. by Brisbane 21.6 (132)

Ben Keays had four goals and 34 disposals for Brisbane as they smashed Sydney Uni by 65-points. Jacob Allison also impressed for the Lions, with 30 touches and a major.

Former Swan Xavier Richards could only manage one behind in the loss.

Canberra 7.5 (47) def. by Sydney 20.18 (138)

It was a goal-fest for Sydney, as they handed Canberra a 91-point loss. Callum Sinclair had a day out for the Swans with 26 touches, 44 hit-outs and three goals. Aliir Aliir performed well with two goals, 21 disposals and 10 marks. Alex Johnson made his long awaited return from football and kicked a goal.

Jordan Harper was again among Canberra's best with 26 touches and a goal.

Gold Coast 25.13 (163) def. by Aspley 5.6 (36)

Cameron Loersch kicked seven goals as Gold Coast smashed Aspley by 127-points. Darcy Macpherson was also excellent for the Suns, with four goals and 31 touches.

Ed Barlow (24 touches and a goal) was the lone shining light for Aspley. The Hornets were scoreless through the first half.

Redland 16.15 (111) def. Southport 13.12 (90)

Six goals from Mitchell Johnson was not enough for Southport as they went down to Redland by 21-points.

Jackson Paine led the way for the Bombers with five goals, while teammate Adrian Williams had 26 points.

Giants 14.9 (93) def. by NT Thunder 15.7 (97)

The Thunder have come from behind in the final quarter to sneak past the Giants. Darren Ewing was at it again kicking five goals.

Will Setterfield got amongst it for the Giants, despite the loss he had two goals, 31 touches, and 17 tackles.
