While the SANFL and the WAFL played an inter-league matchup, the rest of the nation continued to press their claims for a birth in the senior side next week.

GWS Giants 5.12.42 def by. Sydney 10.13.73

Former number one pick, Jonathan Patton, responded to his omission with a poor performance, going goalless and just accumulating 11 touches in his side's 31-point defeat.

He was only able to amass four marks in his outing, while team mates Matt Buntine and Tim Mohr were outstanding, racking up 39 and 31 disposals respectively, while Nick Shipley also had 31.

For the Swans, Nic Newman racked up 40 touches in his side's victory, however was unable to finish a complete game, finishing with 0.3 in front of goal.

Harrison Marsh was also important for his side, finishing with 35 possessions and two goals, while Colin O'Riordan was just as influential with 33 and a goal.

Brisbane Lions 12.24.96 def. Gold Coast 0.4.4

Gold Coast have failed to get on the scoreboard in their clash, finishing with just four behinds for the match.

The Suns had 11-listed AFL players in the game, with all of them unable to cause any damage to the scorers.

Peter Wright picked up 20 disposals, rookie Jacob Dawson racked up 31, while Jack Scrimshaw and Will Brodie also won their footy, with 25 touches and 21 respectively.

For the Lions, former Cat Josh Walker took 11 marks on his way too an inaccuracte 2.4. Ryan Lester racked up 30 possessions, while Marco Paparone finished with 36 and a goal.

Other listed AFL players, Sam Mayes, Ryan Bastinac and Rohan Bewick, all contributed in their sides victory, all collecting 25 touches.

Williamstown 12.6.78 def. Northern Blues 5.4.34

GWS recruit Matthew Kennedy looks ready to join the senior team, with a 30-disposal performance showing his class against Williamstown. Father-son recruit, Jack Silvagni also impressed bagging three goals.

Jacob Weitering continued his form spike, amassing 21 touches, however it wasn't enough as the Blues fell by 44 points.

Port Melbourne 15.12.102 def. Footscray 10.9.69

Stand-alone club Port Melbourne continued their dominance in the VFL, this time outlasting Footscray by 33-points.

Josh Schache continued to hit the scoreboard, kicking another three goals as he inches closer to a debut at his new club. Omitted ruckman, Tim English was also influential, dominating the contest with 30 hit-outs and a goal, while midfielder, Lin Jong, amassed 23 touches and laid 10 tackles.

North Melbourne 7.9.51 def by. Richmond 21.13.139

There were few shining lights for the Kangaroos in their 88-point defeat, with Tristan Xerri kicking three goals, while Sam Durdin, Ben McKay and Cameron Zurhaar were solid contributors.

For the Tigers, Anthony Miles was best-on-ground, continuing his strong form in season 2018.

He collected 41 disposals [18 contested possessions] and kicked two goals in their dominating display. Both the Ellis' (Corey and Brandon) gathered 23 disposals, while Tyson Stengle kicked three goals as Shai Bolton bagged two.

Collingwood 13.13.91 def. Geelong 13.9.87

Collingwood's four-point victory was soured by another hamstring injury to key-forward, Jamie Elliott.

Elliott will undergo test early this week to get a true indication on the severity of the injury, with the forward unlikely to be in the senior side before the bye.

Alex Fasolo, Jarrad Blair and Sam McLarty kicked two goals each in their narrow victory.

For the Cats, they had their own injury concerns, with Charlie Constable suffering concussion, missing the majority of the game.

Lincoln McCarthy kicked three goals, while former-Saint, Rhys Stanley kicked two as it looks like the Cats wont re-call anyone for this week's clash against the Bombers after their victory in the seniors.

Casey Demons 16.15.111 def. Box Hill Hawks 11.6.72

Melbourne co-captain Jack Viney returned from his ongoing foot injury, getting through his first up game in the VFL, as he aims for a return to the senior side against Carlton this week.

Tom Bugg gained some much needed form, gathering 20 touches and kicking four majors, while Billy Stretch gathered 31 and a goal. Timothy Smith kicked three, while utility Cameron Pedersen had 20 possessions and a goal.

For the Hawks, omitted rookie, James Cousins was impressive, with a 23 disposals, as did defender, David Mirra, while Jono O'Rourke had 21.

Sandringham 7.11.53 def by. Essendon 10.14.74

Injury-riddled midfielder, Nathan Freeman got through his second game, with another strong performance, pressing his claims to make his AFL debut against his former club, Collingwood.

He racked up another 31 touches, while yet-to-debut half back, Bailey Rice also impressed once again, gathering 27 disposals.

Josh Battle also put his hand up for selection with two goals.

For the Bombers, troubled young utility, Aaron Francis was impressive in his return to football, taking a number of intercept marks.

Jake Long kicked two, while Jackson Merrett, Jordan Ridley and Kyle Langford were all important for the Bombers 21-point victory.
