Collingwood vice-captain Steele Sidebottom was found "half naked" by police on a street in Williamstown on Sunday morning, a witness told The Herald Sun.

The star midfielder faces suspension for breaching multiple COVID-19 protocols during a boozy Saturday night involving teammate Lynden Dunn.

Sidebottom and Dunn caught an Uber together on Saturday night before the former went to ex-Magpie and club employee Daniel Wells' house.

Sidebottom was allegedly found by police in Williamstown on Sunday morning before 7.30am and driven home.

The witness toldΒ The Herald Sun: "All he wanted to do was get in because he was cold and freezing.

β€œI was there, I was visiting my mate and he looked naked and the coppers knew him straight away.’’

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley said on Wednesday that Sidebottom's recollection of the events β€œisn’t that great’’.

β€œPolice officers located a 29-year-old man in Hanmer Street, Williamstown on Sunday morning 28 June just before 7.30am,” Victoria Police told The Herald Sun.

β€œHe was not charged with any offence and after speaking to police was conveyed home.”
