Western Bulldogs young gun Marcus Bontempelli has won his second consecutive Charles Sutton Medal, becoming the youngest ever dual Dogs best and fairest winner.

Bontempelli (185 votes) just beat 2016 Norm Smith Medalist, Jason Johannisen by one vote in a tight count at Crown Palladium on Wednesday night.

Jack Macrae rounded out the top three a further 29 votes behind.

Outgoing forward Jake Stringer, as well as last year's premiership heroes, Luke Dahlhaus and Tom Liberatore, all missed the top 10.

Stringer did not attend the Bulldog's best and fairest last night, as a decision on his future looms within the next few days after being told by the club he would be traded. The 23-year-old's manager told AFL Trade Radio on Wednesday a decision from Stringer on his preferred club would be imminent.

"We hope to sit down in the next 24-48 hours and nominate a club of preference," Robbie D'Orazio said.

Meanwhile, Bailey Dale won the club's most improved player for 2017.
