The Gold Coast Suns have confirmed highly-rated football administrator Wayne Campbell as their new General Manager of Football Performance.
Campbell joins the Suns after previous stints with the Giants, Tigers, Western Bulldogs and at AFL House, having built an impressive CV since announcing his retirement from the game in 2005.
Campbell is set to join the Suns' football operations hierarchy less than two weeks after the departure of now-former GM of Football Operations Jon Haines.
The Richmond Hall of Fame member is set to work with Suns senior coach Stuart Dew and Player Talent and Strategy Manager Craig Cameron as they look to improve on a difficult 2021 campaign.
Campbell stated his excitement to be joining the Suns' program following the announcement on Wednesday.
“It’s a really exciting opportunity, to work alongside Stuart and Craig in leading the Gold Coast SUNS football department from 2022,” Campbell said.
“There is clear path forward for the football program and I’ll aim to do everything I can, to help this club strive for success.
“As a family, we can’t wait to immerse ourselves in the Gold Coast community.”
The Suns finished 16th this season following a 7-15 record, and will be looking to finish in the top-eight in 2022 for the first time in their history.
