Gold Coast pair Jack Lukosius and Izak Rankine are understood to be nearing new deals in what would be a huge coup for the Queensland club.
The exciting South Australian pair are currently unsigned for the 2023 season and are anticipated to gain interest from clubs in their home state.
Having re-signed star forward Ben King to a two-year deal, along with new deals for uncapped duo Elijah Hollands and Ned Moyle, the Suns have moved to lock away their next wave of talent for the future.
King's signature was a significant retention for Stuart Dew's group, with Lukosius and Rankine seen as the next key names to secure on the dotted line.
According to SEN's Sam Edmund, the Suns are working through negotiations with the pair's management, as the two parties close in on extensions.
Both Lukosius and Rankine are now expected to re-sign and turn their back on potential moves to either the Crows or Power at season's end.
Lukosius has emerged into a versatile asset for Dew across the past 12 months, filling in for the absent King in attack while also being utilised through midfield and behind the ball if needed.
Rankine, who has missed the past two weeks due to a quad injury, has booted 32 goals from 31 games since making his debut in 2020.
The exciting small forward joined Gold Coast as the third overall selection in the 2019 National Draft, one selection behind Lukosius in what was a stellar draft haul that also saw King recruited among the top six selections.
Should Rankine and Lukosius extend beyond this season, the Suns will turn their attention toward securing new deals for forward Ben Ainsworth and defender Connor Budarick, who are among a bevy of off-contract players at Carrara.
The Suns fell to a 1-2 record on Saturday following their loss to the Giants on Saturday and will be keen to level their season standings as they host an undefeated Carlton side in Round 4.
