Gold Coast co-captain Steve May has been withdrawn from the Suns' side that will host Richmond on Saturday night at Metricon Stadium.
May failed to prove his fitness to the coaching staff on Thursday night, and despite being named in the initial side, the defender was replaced early Friday morning by debutant Max Spencer.
The 25-year-old injured his hamstring against Collingwood a fortnight ago, and missed the Suns' loss to the Western Bulldogs last weekend.
Spencer was upgraded to the senior list on Thursday in case May failed to play, and has now been rewarded with a senior game after impressing all season long in the reserves.
The 20-year-old defender is an academy graduate, and was selected with Gold Coast's academy pick in the 2016 Rookie Draft.
May joins Jack Bowes, Trent McKenzie and Jesse Lonergan as the outs from this weekend, with Spencer, Hesse Joyce and Gary Ablett returning from last weekend's side.
