SURPRISE PACKETS

Nic Newman - SYD|DEF|$322,000($+60.6K) - 151 points

He is owned by 28.1% of coaches, but even they would have been shocked by the output from Newman. His 151 points ranked him 2nd across the league, only six points behind Patrick Cripps. Quite an effort from the Sydney defender.

Michael Walters - FRE|FWD|$383,300($+35.1K) - 137 points

Walters came out and registered his best score of the year in round eight; 137 points. Owned by over 1,000 players, the Fremantle Docker kicked three behinds, however his 38 disposals helped him to a massive score.

David Zaharakis - ESS|MID|$368,900($+14.3K) - 110 points

It's been a tough start to the year for David Zahrakis. His average score before this round was just 69 points. 31 touches against the Cats meant he posted a season high number, making the 1.1% of coaches who have him very happy.

Sam Gilbert - STK|DEF|$324,500(+17.5K) - 109 points

Owned by under 1,000 coaches, and priced at below $350,000, Gilbert surprised many by scoring 109 against Carlton. His season high before round eight was 79, a relatively low number for Gilbert, but he looks to have turned his form around.

Karl Amon - PA|MID/FWD|$355,500($+30.6K) - 101 points

After missing last week, Amon wasn't expected to score big, but he sure did. 26 disposals, and a goal helped him to season high 101 points. Only 0.7% of teams have him, meaning few enjoyed his big game.

DISAPPOINTMENTS

Zak Jones - SYD|DEF|$474,100($+11.9K) - 63 points

Just 15 disposals to Jones, meant he registered his second lowest score of the season. The Swan had been in excellent form leading into the game against North Melbourne, however failed to perform for the 9.6% of coaches who have him.

Luke Dahlhaus - WB|MID/FWD|$533,300($-37K) - 65 points

The Bulldog is owned by an incredible 48.2% of coaches, however most would have been left disappointed with his score of 65 points. He had 25 disposals, although only eight were kicks, and only four were contested.

Rory Sloane - ADE|MID|$615,200($-43.7K) - 70 points

Another tough week for the star midfielder, who only scored 70 points. The Demons kept the Crow to just 11 disposals. His 12 tackles meant that his score was respectable, however not the score the 28,097 coaches who own him would have wanted.

Mitch Duncan - GEEL|MID|$526,400($-26K) - 70 points

Doesn't have a place in many teams, however Duncan's score of 70 points was disappointing considering his price tag. It's just the third time he has scored below triple figures but two of those occasions have been over the past couple of weeks.

Scott Pendlebury - COLL|MID|$556,800($-7.2K) - 76 points

It's been a mixed start to 2017 for the Collingwood skipper. Round eight was his second lowest score for the year, and the fourth time over the past five weeks he has scored below 100 points. The 42,592 coaches who have him in their side may be looking to move him on.
