Melbourne midfielder Clayton Oliver will reportedly take "extended leave" from the Demons in order to focus on his personal challenges.
Oliver's issues have been well-documented since late last year, having found himself amid trade speculation after Demons officials seemingly became disenchanted with the prolific midfielder.
Ultimately, the 26-year-old remained a Melbourne player despite receiving significant reported trade interest from rivals.
However, according to Herald Sun journalist Glenn McFarlane on Thursday, Melbourne will afford Oliver the requisite "time and space" to focus on overcoming his personal challenges.
Thursday's development comes after premiership Dee departed Melbourne's pre-season training camp in Lorne prior to last year's end.
"Clayton has personal issues that he has been dealing with," Alan Richardson explained, via The Age.
"Clayton has been working extremely closely with his personal medical team, with the support of key club staff, in order to manage these challenges.
"The club fully supports Clayton taking this important time out, which will allow him to focus on these challenges.
"Our primary focus is Clayton's overall wellbeing, and we will continue to support him through this period.
"It's important for Clayton that we respect his privacy and his need for time and space."
The Demons returned to their continued pre-season preparations on Thursday.
