Sydney midfielder Angus Sheldrick has been offered a one-game suspension by the VFL's Match Review Panel following an incident in Round 18 against Southport.

The 20-year-old has been charged with rough conduct on Shark Jay Lockhart following a third-quarter incident, with the MRP grading Sheldrick's actions as careless conduct, low impact and high contact.

Sheldrick has been handed a base sanction of a one-game suspension, which can be reduced to a $500 fine and reprimand should he lodge an early guilty plea. The charge can be challenged at the VFL Tribunal, which would risk the suspension standing should Sheldrick and the Swans be unsuccessful in their appeal.

If that is to be the case, Sheldrick would be unavailable for selection at both AFL and VFL level,  ruling him out against Port Adelaide this week and Collingwood's VFL side next week respectively, with the Swans' reserves having a bye scheduled for Round 19.

A decision from Sheldrick, which is likely to be an early guilty plea, will be made on Tuesday.

Elsewhere in the VFL, Port Melbourne recruit and former St Kilda defender Tom Highmore has been handed a one-game suspension for striking Werribee's Hudson Garoni during the Borough's 27-point defeat.

The strike came in the third quarter of the match at ETU Stadium, with the MRP grading Highmore's actions as intentional conduct, low impact and body contact.

Highmore can avoid the suspension with an early guilty plea, which would see him hit with a $250 fine and a reprimand instead of the base sanction.

Highmore can choose to challenge the MRP's Findings but would miss this Friday's meeting with Frankston if he failed in his appeal at the VFL Tribunal.

Hawthorn-listed youngster Jack O'Sullivan can accept a reprimand for making careless contact with an umpire in Box Hill's match against Williamstown over the weekend, while Southport's Jack Sexton can receive the same sanction with an early guilty plea for instigating a melee in his side's loss to the Swans.
