Fremantle forward Michael Walters has slammed out-of-line fans after he and fellow Docker Michael Frederick were subject to online racial vilification by a member of the public in the aftermath of the club's win over St Kilda at Marvel Stadium last Saturday evening.
Walters was justifiably sickened by the incident, taking to social media himself to address the issue and vent his frustration.
"The s*** you have to put up with after a game of football," Walters posted with a screenshot of the abuse he received.
"After every game I'm sick of opening my socials to uneducated messages like this.
"Take a hard look at yourselves."
Fremantle has since released a statement from club CEO Simon Garlick, who reiterated that no player or person should have to endure such abuse.
"There is absolutely no place for online abuse and our Club will not tolerate it at any level," Garlick said.
"Nobody in the community deserves to endure the hurtful and harmful comments experienced by our players over the weekend.
"[Walters and Frederick] are two much-loved members of our Freo family who have been vilified in a cowardly way and we are working through the matter with the priority being the wellbeing and support for our players."
The Dockers have reported the matter to AFL officials.
