GWS coach Adam Kingsley is looking forward to the challenge against who he deems is the "best team in the competition": the Western Bulldogs.

Sunday's clash at MARS Stadium in Ballarat has a lot more riding on it than just the premiership points or bragging rights.

For the Dogs, it is about locking a spot in the finals or risk being shoved out by Fremantle.

As for the Giants, they can press their case for a home qualifying final, pending the Power lose to the Dockers.

And to add further hype to the contest, these two teams don't like each other, dating back to the famous 2016 Preliminary Final.

Kingsley refused to reveal all the plans he was set to put in place to quell the rampaging Dogs but offered some insight into who effective tagger Toby Bedford may sit on.

"Possibly, (Treloar) was best on ground last time we played them. He's certainly a really dangerous player," Kingsley said on Friday.

"Bontempelli, we know, is a star of the competition, so there's a few options there for us, and we'll choose one to start on, but that doesn't mean that we won't flip during the game and take the guy who is in the most damaging form."

Adam Treloar is arguably in career-best form and, at this rate, is worthy of his maiden All-Australian blazer.

And given Bontempelli's versatility to break a tag and sit full-forward, the speedy Bedford is likely to head to the former Giant.

Despite the build-up, Kingsley was just excited to get to Ballarat, which has historically been a happy hunting ground for the Giants.

"We're looking forward to getting down there and challenging ourselves against a team that you could argue is the best in the comp right now," Kingsley added.

"Their stoppage game is in good order, their attack and defence are really strong. They can score through different avenues; they can transition the ball. They provide good service to their talls, but their smalls get involved too, so they're quite dangerous ahead of the ball."

GWS is also looking to avenge their poor performance in Round 10 at Engie Stadium when the Dogs were victorious in a wet affair by 27 points.
