The Tasmania Devils have unveiled the design and name of their club mascot as they reach their one-year milestone.

The mascot, the Devil, known as 'Rum'un' took centre stage on Tuesday. The term, based on the Macquarie Dictionary, is a Tasmanian slang word for "an odd or eccentric" person; a scallywag, or someone cheeky.

Developed in partnership with Tasmania-based Terrapin Puppet Theatre, Rum'un has been designed with input from school children across the island, with the mascot's fur made from recycled school uniforms.

"Our newest recruit, Rum'un, will help us on our journey and be a great beacon of our Club across the state," Devils CEO Brendon Gale said.

"The creation of Rum'un reflects our Club โ€“ uniquely Tasmanian, handcrafted and created with grit and determination representing our whole island. Rum'un is also a little bit cheeky.

"These characteristics are all true to the Tasmania Football Club, a Club that represents our whole state and who does things our way."

The reveal of Rum'un coincides with the Devils' first year since being officially established, which has already seen 207,000 founding members.

Tasmania has also launched its 2025 membership offer, which will include a refresh of the famous $10 deal that generated the staggering amount of support.

"The Club has had a huge first year, with a range of milestones achieved throughout the year," Gale said.

"Some of the highlights have included the significant increase in football participation across Tasmania, record membership numbers and a coming together to support our Club like we have never seen before.

"We have a lot of work ahead of us, but with the support of our founding member base and the community more broadly we will continue to power ahead as we move toward entry into the national competition.

"Today is about celebrating being one year closer to that becoming a reality."

The reveal of Rum'un comes as the Devils are set to receive a handful of draft concessions.

The AFL is currently working on a fair and equitable list of concessions for Tasmania's entry into the competition, which is set for 2028.

The list is expected to be officially handed over by midway through the 2025 season.
