Collingwood star Dayne Beams could miss his side's clash with Carlton on Saturday, according to Channel 7's Tom Browne.

Beams recently overcame an illness that sidelined him in round four against the Bulldogs and almost made him miss the matchup against his old team, the Lions.

Mason Cox will also be given another week as he recovers from an ankle injury, while Chris Mayne may be a surprise inclusion after suffering a lower back injury against the Bulldogs last month.

In further injury news, Bombers great Matthew Lloyd revealed on Macquarie Sports Radio that Essendon spearhead Joe Daniher is also in doubt for the Bombers clash against the Swans at the SCG Friday night.

Daniher has played three games since returning from a groin injury and is reportedly sore after returning from a long stint on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, Crows midfielder Bryce Gibbs may also miss his side's Showdown clash with Port Adelaide after failing to take part in the Crows' main training session.

Finally, Cats coach Chris Scott was optimistic that Patrick Dangerfield would lineup against North Melbourne this weekend, but must first pass a fitness test.

"Paddy Dangerfield looks as if he might be okay," Scott told reporters on Thursday morning.

"He will not train and will be tested later in the week."

Dangerfield has not trained this week and will be given until the last minute to prove his fitness.

Teams will be announced tonight at 6:25pm (AEST).
