Throughout the history of the AFL, there have been champions and then there have been the unfortunate teams who never quite climbed to the top of the mountain.
The Zero Hanger team have identified and ranked the best 10 teams to never win a flag since 2000.
Two important factors made up our criteria - each club could only be represented once and was ineligible if they won a premiership the season before or after.
Without further ado, here are our 10 best AFL teams to never win a premiership since 2000.
3. 2016 Sydney Swans
They were on top of the table in 2016, percentage above both Hawthorn and Geelong. But the Swans were a stacked side.
They had the stingiest defence in the home and away season, conceding an average of 66 points per game. Dane Rampe earned his first All-Australian nod this year as an elite two-way defender, whilst they also had strong defenders such as Heath Grundy, Nick Smith, Jake Lloyd and Jeremy Laidler.
The midfield was still as strong as its premiership side in 2012: Josh Kennedy, Kieran Jack, Jarrad McVeigh, Dan Hannebery combined with the up-and-comers Isaac Heeney, Zak Jones, Tom Mitchell and Luke Parker well and truly into his own since being the sub four years earlier.
And then, a forward line based around Buddy Franklin. He had Kurt Tippett as the partner-in-crime, as well as threatening smalls such as Tom Papley, Gary Rohan and Ben McGlynn โ all three of them managed to kick over 20 goals that year.
