After an accidental clash with a teammate during a Grand Final, 27-year-old Margaret Varcoe passed away unexpectedly with critical injuries.

During the first quarter of the 2018 Grand Final against the West Coast Eagles, Collingwood star Travis Varcoe scored the first goal of the match.

Varcoe later told reporters that the goal was dedicated to his sister.
