Now that footy is over for the season, the focus turns to the circus that is trade period.

With clubs looking to make deals in quite possibly the most important trade period in recent memory, here are the 10 most interesting out-of-contract players.

3. Stefan Martin

The Lions ruckman faces an unclear future as we push through the exchange period, with Brisbane leaning in favour of Oscar McInerney and inexperienced duo Tom Fullarton and Archie Smith.

With AFL clubs yet to know list sizes and salary caps for next season, Martin's future with the Lions hangs in the balance.

Stefan Martin

Speaking on AFL Trade Radio, Lions head of football David Noble admitted that Martinโ€™s future was up in the air.

โ€œStef fits into that unfortunately, heโ€™s been here and helped us through some really tough periods and weโ€™d love to have more clarity not only for ourselves, but for Stef, to be able give him a better indication.

โ€œWe certainly see him as a player weโ€™ve got some interest in, but we just donโ€™t know what it looks like with the list numbers.

โ€œUnfortunately, itโ€™s not a great position to be in as a club, with a person as valued as Stef, but itโ€™s pretty much tied up with where the damn list numbers are and the TPP.โ€

Its unlikely the 33-year-old will be pulling on the blue, maroon and gold next year, but with several rival clubs seeking to add height this off-season, their could be room for a third club in his career.
