We have already had our 2021 All-Australian team predicted, and now we have shifted our gaze to the names that could find themselves being tailored for a gaudy jacket by season's end.
Some of this group have lengthy resumes and can count themselves rigor mortis stiff not to have already cracked a nomination for the national side. Whilst others are budding stars, set to once again put their best feet forward.
From the dubious to the near on locks, here are the 10 players that appear best placed to end 2021 with their first All-Australian selection.
As always, let us know who we have missed.
6. Sam Menegola
In the Cats' star-studded midfield, Sam Menegola rates outside their top three. However, just because Chris Scott's engine room bats deep, is no detraction of the Western Australian's ability.
Since first debuting for Geelong in 2016, Menegola has worn the hoops on a further 85 occasions and across these contests, has found the football just shy of 23 times on average.
Although never the most heralded on the hoop's ball winners, Menegola's form last season did see him named in the 40-man squad. With many tipping the Cats to go one better in 2021, this could pave the way for the delisted Docker to add an All-Australian blazer with a Premiership medal.
For @GeelongCats this year, Sam Menegola is:
โข1st for Average Disposals
โข1st for Uncontested Possessions
โข1st for Effective Disposals
โข4th for Metres Gained
โข4th for Marks
โข5th for Intercepts
โข5th for Goals
โข5th for Inside 50shttps://t.co/7uPiEfTIN5— Geelong Cats blog (@GeelongCatsblog) August 12, 2020
