Following the outcome of last year's recording-breaking count, it's seemingly harder than ever to predict how the Brownlow Medal race will unfold.

The 2024 count saw the previous single-season votes record under the 3-2-1 format shattered by two players, with Carlton captain Patrick Cripps going on to claim his second Brownlow with a staggering 45 votes.

Cripps will again be a leading contender for this year's award but will have plenty of competition from some of the game's household names.

Here we name seven leading options for the 2025 Brownlow Medal and a further three who could make a late charge.

3. Caleb Serong

With the Dockers tipped to rise this year, their potentially increased win tally could see Serong better his 2024 votes tally of 28.

The Fremantle star will have competition from teammates however, with Andrew Brayshaw and Hayden Young just as likely to press for the 30-vote barrier.

Serong's consistency and known ability to poll votes will buoy his chances, while Brayshaw has a pair of seasons tallying 22 or more votes.

"Pretty easy decision": Fremantle culture a key factor for star's move West

Given Serong is still yet to reach his peak age - coming into the system two years after Brayshaw - we'll give the hard-nosed onballer the nod here.
