Former Richmond assistant coach Justin Leppitsch says the Tigers have built an "art form" in peaking at the right time of the season which has helped them win three premierships in four years.
In an interview with SEN's 'This is your sporting life', Leppitsch spoke about Richmond's ability to peak at the end of the home and away season and take their form into September.
“Richmond have been brilliant at peaking at the right time in the last few seasons apart from 2018 where there were a lot of learnings where we finished on top but ran out of steam," Leppitsch told 'This is your sporting life' and reported by SEN's Alex Zaia.
“That was one of the great lessons … it’s not about finishing on top of the ladder."
The Tigers finished fourth, third and third at the end of the home and away season in their three premiership campaigns.
The only time they finished minor premiers was in 2018 when they endured preliminary final heartache to Collingwood.
The Tigers have followed a similar path to the Brisbane dynasty that Leppitsch was part of in the early 2000s.
The Lions finished second, second and third at the end of round 22, before going on to win premierships from 2001 to 2003.
