Jordan Lim runs the rule over this week’s Supercoach hidden gems and those you should think about offloading.
Sick of the same Supercoach sites telling you get on board with the same handful of players? Well The Bandwagon takes a look at the unique players that could make an impact, and the popular ones that could face the boot, as you look to get the wheels rolling for Supercoach 2015. Whether you need to take a punt in your league, or are looking for overall glory, don’t take a Paige page out of the same book, jump on board the new Bandwagon.
They say hindsight is 20/20, and it proved so this week as Josh Gibson (abandon ship) went ahead and amassed 133 points in the Hawks loss to Port Adelaide – sure did prove me wrong. In that same game, Jasper Pittard (jump on) helped himself to 102 SC points for his efforts. Cale Hooker also tonned up, which makes it four in a row to start 2015. Jack Newnes once again spudded up with a 60, so I’ll take a modest three out of four in terms of recommendations. As for this week…
Jump On
Luke Dahlhaus – Western Bulldogs ($515, 500, av. 110.75)
While teammate Marcus Bontempelli has stolen headlines this year so far, it’s seemed to take some attention away from Luke Dahlhaus’ performances, who some years ago was the great hope for the Doggies, much like the Bont is now. He has kept his same predator instinct up forward while getting plenty of run through midfield, and is his side’s second top disposal winner with 101 touches. They look a much-improved side this year under Luke Beveridge, and his namesake is at the forefront of the revolution. Jump on!
Michael Rischitelli – Gold Coast Suns ($470, 500, av. 106.75)
The veteran has been quietly doing his business in a poor Gold Coast outfit, and has stepped up in the absence of Gaz, and Jaeger O’Meara. Not only is he amassing possessions (averaging 28.5 a game), but he’s also inflicting scoreboard pressure with 4.5 for the season. He’s also racking up a decent tackle count; so fancy his scoring to go up as Gold Coast’s performances improve.
Abandon Ship
Nathan Van Berlo – Adelaide Crows ($293, 400, av. 74)
Scott Thompson returns to the side, Van Berlo scores his worst total for the season. Coincidence? I think not! Expect the possibility of a tagging role, as he spent little time on the aforementioned Bont over the weekend. For those looking to get Nathan Krakour into your team, Van Berlo may just be the man to depart given his break even of 64.
Tom Bellchambers – Essendon Bombers ($319, 600, av. 69.00)
The only reason the Bombers big man was in my team from the start was as a flexible R3 and F6. Unfortunately, his scoring output doesn’t justify his spot, even at his low price. Many would’ve been hoping for an 80+ average from Belly, given the departure of Paddy Ryder to Port Adelaide, but he’s just struggling to find form at the minute. Can clunk a mark but he isn’t in the Nic Nat mould of a mobile ruckman, so won’t ever win a ton of the footy. Make way for Robbie Tarrant and move on.
