Another week and another set of winners and losers.

Although the road to the last Saturday in September has narrowed ever so slightly, each of the competition's 18 teams still hold their destinies in their own hands.

Whether your side is undefeated, breaking even or without a win to start 2021, there are questions, both new and historic, that must be answered to secure a win this long weekend.

Fremantle

Was Sunday a true reflection of where they are really at?

After subjecting pundits and punters to an at times torturous contest in Round 1, Fremantle produced a dominant three-quarter effort after travelling home across the Nullarbor.

The Dockers disposal count, scoring shots, inside 50s, clearances and time in possession all climbed drastically from their disastrous loss to the Demons. They also managed to shrink their turnover count.

Perhaps a blast from Justin Longmuir scared his young list straight, perhaps the familiar surrounds of Optus Stadium put them at ease. Still, when viewing the game and sifting through the numbers, it became clear that if the Dockers are to contend at the pointy end, their engine room needs to keep attacking the goalmouth.

Of the Dockers 28 shots at goal, 10 came from players that were not permanent fixtures within the forward 50.

With the reintroduction of crowd favourite Michael Frederick, Fremantle found a conduit from across the paint of the forward arc that they desperately lacked last week. The 20-year-old produced a team high seven I50s on Sunday, as well as three scoring shots of his own, including this effort from just off the fence.

With Michael Walters set to return for the Purple Haze's Round 3 clash, this chain of supply will only become stronger.

The knock on the Dockers will always be surrounding their consistency, but with a golden chance to grab a win on the road against a beleaguered Blues outfit on Easter Sunday, the birth of a fresh narrative could well be on the cards.
