Another week and another set of winners and losers.

Although the road to the last Saturday in September has narrowed ever so slightly, each of the competition's 18 teams still hold their destinies in their own hands.

Whether your side is undefeated, breaking even or without a win to start 2021, there are questions, both new and historic, that must be answered to secure a win this long weekend.

Geelong

Will this week be their launching pad?

Should you be one of the army of punters that suggest that Mark Blicavs should have be punished for holding the ball and Geelong should have subsequently lost their Round 2 encounter, then you must have had blinkers on for the 33-points Brisbane posted after an umpire blew their whistle.

Sure, the lack of a decision in the dying stages was glaring, but now that the dust has settled, the Cats are still 1-1 after a fortnight.

Although, the hoops had a 26-point lead whittled down by the fast-finishing Lions, their efforts prior to the final stanza, without a handful of handy names, was enough to square their ledger.

Despite being done in less-than-ideal circumstances, Chris Scott will have enjoyed the fight that his players showed to secure the win. It is almost certain that the Premiership coach be using it as the flag fancy's launching pad for the remainder of the season.

With a month ahead that includes contests against Hawthorn, Melbourne, North Melbourne and West Coast, Geelong's seasoned list will have the belief that their best could have them at 5-1 by April's end.

A similar output across the first pair of weeks should be enough for the Cats to claim victory against contemporary rivals Hawthorn on Easter Monday, but if they are just treading water waiting for the cavalry to return, hazards could become reality.

Geelong are a superb team on paper, but as Adelaide were more than happy to reiterate to Scott's seasoned squad, no game is a certainty and that flags are won in September and not on sheets of Reflex.
