Kicking off with Round 3!
4. Tex on Fire
Taylor โTexโ Walker has been a massive contributor to Adelaideโs great start to the year. After being the Crows leading goal kicker with just 15 goals in 2020 he has now slotted 17 majors in just three games.
This is the only time in V/AFL history a player has passed his clubโs previous years goalkicking leader's tally within three rounds of competition. You have to go way back in the record books to Charlie Baker for St Kilda (1902) who kicked 4-2-1-3 in the opening four rounds of the year to pass the clubs previous years' leader tally of 9 by Cecil Sandford.
The sad news for Charlie was that the Saints went 0-17 that year, despite him kicking 30 majors - and winning a retrospective Coleman Medal as the leading goalkicker for the year. Walker is also leading the Useless AFL Stats 'Moustached Player of the Year' so far in 2021.
Tex Walker has had an incredible start to #AFL2021 with an average of 5.67 goals per game!#AFL #weflyasone #adelaidefc #adelaidecrows
