The Richmond v Sydney match saw a flurry of messages to the Useless AFL Stats Facebook page around the number of times players had hit the post kicking for goal. Every goal post was rattled for a combined total of nine times during the game, with many people believing it could possibly be a record. However, according to one of the best books ever written "Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Australian Rules Football But Couldn't Be Bothered Asking", by Graeme Atkinson, Five Mile Press, published in 1982, the record is 11.

Listed in the book as follows:
11 - Footscray 6, Carlton 5 (Rd 5, 1936)
10 - Richmond 7, Fitzroy 3 (Rd 4, 1924)
10 - Collingwood 4, Melbourne 6 (Rd 5, 1937)
9 - Sth Melb 8, Geelong 1 (Rd 8, 1920)
And now we add another 9 - Sydney 6, Richmond 3 (Rd 3, 2021)
