Richmond’s Neil Balme has knocked back a significant offer from the Adelaide Crows to remain on board as the Tigers’ Senior Club Advisor beyond this year.
Ahead of a do-or-die semi final for the Tigers tonight against St. Kilda, Balme confirmed on SEN Breakfast that he was staying at Punt Road after serious consideration.
Neil Balme staying at Richmond is the type of news I like on the morning of a final. #gotiges

“I’ve been told I shouldn’t be thinking about doing anything different and I’m going to genuinely stay at the Tigers over the next couple of years,” he said
“I’m really pleased I’m able to say that and really pleased that’s going to happen.”
Balme has played a pivotal off-field role in the recent success of the Tigers, but strongly considered the offer of the struggling Crows, who were offering a similar role.
“Things have changed in footy so you’ve got to at least think about it all. I was seriously considering the proposition but I’m not going to do it,” He said.
“I think it was sort of Godfather of the footy department just to help them with all of that, there’s a significant amount of decision making in lots of areas.
Neil Balme has rejected a move to the Crows in favour of staying with Richmond.

“I’ve obviously had experience in all of those areas and hoping I could help in that sort of stuff was the thinking, but I’m not going to be able to do it.”
