GWS defender Lachie Whitfield has played on from kick-ins on more than 100 occasions in 2024, but it's Collingwood captain Darcy Moore who has looked to make the most from winning the ball back from opposition behinds so far in 2024.

No player has taken more kick-ins than Whitfield across the first 18 rounds of the season, with the GWS defender playing on 104 times from his 112 kicks-ins - a rate of 93%.

That rating has Whitfield sitting 20th overall among the AFL's 40 most common kick-in players, with Moore stepping outside the goalsquare every kick-in he's had so far.

Of the players who have recorded at least 35 kick-ins in 2024, Moore is the only one to go at a rate of 100%, having played on from all of his 37 kick-ins for the season.

The next highest is Hawthor flanker Karl Amon, who has played on 72 times from 73 kick-ins for the year.

All of Sam Flanders, Nick Blakey, Harry Himmelberg, Kane Farrell, Riley Bonner and Jeremy McGovern have also stepped outside the goalsquare at least 96% of the time in 2024.

Whitfield's 112 total kick-ins is the most in the competition, with Fremantle's Luke Ryan - who plays on at a rate of 93% - the only other to surpass triple figures, sitting at 106.

The GWS backman has recorded 505 disposals in 2024 - an average of 29.71 - meaning over one in five of his disposals this year have come from out of the opposition's goalsquare.

Of the top 40 players for total kick-ins this year, Irish duo Mark Keane and Conor McKenna feature among the bottom three for play-on rate.

Sydney's Oliver Florent has played on just 26 times from his 42 kick-ins this year for a return of 62% - the lowest in the top 40. McKenna is a touch higher at 68%, while Keane is the next lowest with 71%.

Just nine of the 40 play-on less than 90% of the time they take a kick-in.
