There has been a number of AFL players who have retired yet changed their mind and eventually retuned to footy.

We take a look at 10 of the best comeback stories - based off success, contribution and overall story behind it, after returning to the game.

This list includes players who officially retired.

6. Luke Hodge

One of the most known players to turn his back on retirement, Luke Hodge, retired in 2017 as one of the all time greats.

His achievements include, four premierships (three as captain), two Norm Smith's, three All-Australian selections (one as captain) and two club best and fairest awards.

His time after coming back from retirement cannot be uncredited though.

Hodge came out of retirement to play for Brisbane from 2018 to 2019.

He played a further 41 games to bring his total to 346.

His time at the Lions came with much praise from teammates, staff and the media, because of the impact he had, mostly his leadership on and off the field.

Hodge was clearly instrumental in the Lions rise in recent years.
