Did you know these blokes have a basketball background?

With Tom Wilson, a former Australian Boomer, set to make his debut for Collingwood this weekend, the topic of basketball backgrounds has come up (yet again).

With that in mind, we thought we'd rank our top 10 current players (based on current form) with a basketball background.

Here's what we went with:

(To be eligible for this list, the player must have played a minimum of high level junior representative basketball)ย

9. Luke Jackson

Jackson was a gun basketballer as well as a gun footballer in his junior days.

In 2018, after leading the WA metro basketball team to a championship in the Australian Junior Championships, he would then go on to represent Australia in the FIBA U17 World Cup in Argentina.

Jackson went on to average 13.7 points and 13.7 rebounds per game, making him one of the most promising young basketball players in Australia at the time.

Despite representing Australia and looking to have a solid career in basketball, Jackson still flourished playing football for WA and would ultimately turn his full attention to football, where he would then be selected with the 3rd pick in the 2019 AFL draft by Melbourne.
