It was a dream start in the navy blue for Newman, the defender was the top-ranked player on the field Thursday Night with 134 SuperCoach points and 115 AFL Fantasy points.

The former Swan comes at a cheaper price in SuperCoach at $394,100, and is the second most traded in player this week 6.1% of teams acquiring him.

Newman showed he was capable of big scores in his debut season at Sydney, with 151 SuperCoach points and 135 AFL Fantasy points in just his fifth senior game.

Round 2 of the AFL home and away season kicks off tonight with Richmond and Collingwood at the MCG.
