Although Will and Levi Ashcroft have taken the AFL world by storm, there is another Ashcroft on the horizon, with younger sister Lucy joining the Brisbane Lions Academy.

The trio of emerging football stars are children of three-time premiership player Marcus, who was a significant contributor during the Lions' golden era in the early 2000s.

Marcus played 318 games across the-then Brisbane Bears and Lions over 15 years, whilst also representing Queensland, the Allies and Australia during his impressive AFL career.

The award for best afield in the QClash - a contest between the Lions and Gold Coast - has also been named after him.

Lucy - who is draft-eligible in 2027 - is set to follow in her older brothers' footsteps into the big time as a father-daughter prospect.

Under AFLW rules, a player's father only needs to have played one game for a club for his daughter to be eligible for that club through the father-daughter mechanism.

Will and Levi were both taken as father-son prospects, given that Marcus played over 100 AFL games for Brisbane.

Will was drafted with Pick 2 in 2022 and has made an incredible impact at such a young age, especially given that he sat out 12 months with an ACL injury halfway through his debut campaign.

Will returned to the senior in Round 16 of the 2024 season and proved to be the difference maker, as the Lions sought redemption for their grand final loss the year before.

Will was awarded the Norm Smith Medal.

Following the premiership triumph, Brisbane was stoked that they secured a top-end talent in Levi, who many thought was the best in his draft crop.

Levi slipped to Pick 5 due to his alliance with the Queensland club and has played in all three matches in 2025.

Joining Lucy as a father-daughter prospect are Claudia Keating (daughter of Clark) and Sierra Croad (daughter of Trent),

The Lions Academy team will be competing in the U16 Girls Marsh National Championships, from Sunday, April 6 through to Thursday, April 17.
