A third McCartin brother is said to be on the radar of AFL clubs, with Charlie - an older brother to Sydney's Tom and the younger brother to ex-Swan and Saint Paddy - emerging as a potential recruit for the top flight.
The 25-year-old plays for Lorne in the Colac and District Football League and is now making a big jump to the VFL, with the Swans giving him a chance at the reserves level.
According to Channel 7's Mitch Cleary, McCartin has been registered with the twos and will feature for the side against GWS on Saturday.
Since his return to football this year, where he's quickly made an impression at Lorne under coach and former Carlton midfielder Ed Curnow, with the Dolphins recruit playing seven games for the undefeated club.
A former part-time recruiter for Sydney, McCartin has spent the last several years travelling and working.
Now, he has reportedly garnered interest from AFL scouts, with 7 News reporter Mitch Cleary revealing to Talking Footy that another McCartin could join the AFL.
"This could be incredible. It's early stages, but Lorne has unearthed the third McCartin brother. His name is Charlie McCartin," Cleary said earlier in the month.
"A 25-year-old playing for Lorne in the Colac and District Football League. Those around the league know it's not the strongest, but his traits have put him on the radar of AFL clubs. A couple of recruiters have been spotted at Colac and District games this year
"He hasn't played of a serious nature since 2017, he's been travelling, working at Geelong Grammar, working at the family pub and he also worked with the Swans part-time as a recruiter.
"Now he's on the radar of AFL clubs. There's still a long way to go, clubs need to learn more and see more about him, but it could be one of the great stories.
"[Ed Curnow] is coach. Carlton would no doubt be one of the clubs made aware. I think the Swans have also got some interest given he was a scout for them.
"So watch this space on a third McCartin brother."
McCartin's younger brother Tom currently plays for Sydney, where he has been listed since being drafted in 2017 and played 119 games in the red and white as a promising lockdown defender.
Paddy joined Tom at the Swans as a Supplemental Selection Period acquisition two years on from his St Kilda delisting. The former Pick 1 selection played just 35 games for the Saints due to a series of concussions, with a further head knock in 2023 with Sydney eventually leading to McCartin's premature retirement.
The key forward turned defender featured in 28 games for the Swans, 24 of which came in 2022 - including a grand final appearance against Geelong.
