Reigning premiers Melbourne are the latest Victorian club linked to out-of-contract Port Adelaide midfielder Karl Amon.

Amon has already gained reported interest from multiple keen suitors from his home state ahead of the 2022 off-season - namely St Kilda and Hawthorn.

The 26-year-old is understood to have placed discussions surrounding his future on hold until late into the year, prompting further intrigue into the wingman's likely destination for 2023 and beyond.

Interest in Amon had reportedly risen after the club's decision to drop him from their Round 6 planning to face the Eagles, with the 2021 All-Australian squad member eventually gaining a reprieve as a late inclusion.

The East Sandringham product has continued to rank strongly among Ken Hinkley's midfield ensemble this season, averaging 22 disposals, six inside 50s and 5.4 tackles per game this year.

The Saints could look to pry the unrestricted free agent back to Melbourne's south-east at season's end, with Amon's mother, Katrina, the club's indigenous development manager.

The Demons could spoil the party however, with The Herald Sun naming Melbourne as the latest keen suitor for Amon's services.

Simon Goodwin already boasts the riches of arguably the AFL's no.1 wingman in Ed Langdon, while Angus Brayshaw and James Jordon have also held efficient roles out wide across the start of this season.

The Demons are yet to lock away Brayshaw past this year, with the 126-gamer also potentially considering the 'go home factor' to link up with his brother at Fremantle.

Andrew Brayshaw recently spoke on his hopes of luring his brother to Cockburn, however has been met with little in return from the premiership Demon.

“Every year I try to get in his ear, but at the end of the day, he does what he wants” Andrew told ABC Grandstand.

“I can’t really get too much of an insight, he actually keeps his cards relatively close to his chest.”

Should Brayshaw venture west, Amon might be a suitable replacement at a similar asking price for the Demons.

Melbourne are also battling to retain young tall Luke Jackson, who is also gaining strong interest from Western Australian clubs this year.
