A trade deal that sees Collingwood, Port Adelaide and Gold Coast exchange a quartet of players and multiple draft selections is said to be in the works.
The Magpies, Power and Suns have been in constant discussions surrounding the futures of Joe Richards, John Noble, Jack Lukosius and Daniel Houston, who are all exploring moves elsewhere this off-season.
Richards has requested a trade to Port Adelaide while teammate Noble is seeking a move to Queensland where Lukosius is looking to depart in favour of also heading to Alberton. Houston is keen to land in Victoria and has garnered interest from the Magpies, Blues and Kangaroos.
A deal that sees all three clubs attain players and desired draft capital swap hands to appease certain sides could unlock several trade wishes at once, with Houston reportedly now preferring a move to Collingwood that could trigger an agreement.
According to The Age, the two-time All-Australian is said to be leaning toward a move to the Magpies as he looks to return to his home state, a decision that could now open the door for the Power to land both Lukosius and Richards.
Collingwood are said to have offered their 2025 first-round selections and Noble to Gold Coast in exchange for Picks 13 and 23, with that offer rebuffed by the Suns. The Magpies are hoping to move Pick 13 onto the Power along with Richards to get Houston, but that offering is also expected to fall short of satisfying the South Australian club.
The Magpies are said to be keen to hold onto Pick 23 and take that selection to the draft.
A trade that involves all four players as well as the Suns' two selections and Collingwood's future first-round pick might need more picks heading to both Gold Coast and Port Adelaide despite the incoming players for both sides.
An agreed trade would mean the Power avoid trading away their future first-round selection to attain Lukosius given the value the club is likely to receive for the loss of Houston.
Port Adelaide will require AFL permission to be able to trade their 2025 first-round pick after not using an early selection the past two years. The club's recent addition of former No.1 draft pick Jason Horne-Francis has alleviated their plans to be able to part with that selection, while Houston's departure should strengthen their chances also.
The Suns are also dealing with Richmond over a move for Daniel Rioli, with Pick 23 also potentially tied into that deal, adding to the complications of a move that involves the Magpies and Power.
The Tigers are expected to secure Pick 6 for Rioli, however the Punt Road side is also said to be keen on acquiring another draft selection from the Suns.
