Richmond key forward Tom Lynch has suffered a minor hamstring strain, placing the star Tiger away from the main group at pre-season training for the coming weeks.

On Thursday the club confirmed the 29-year-old had suffered the setback earlier this week, with Lynch now set to join those currently recuperating with injuries at Punt Road.

The strain will mean Lynch won't take part in Damien Hardwick's primary sessions for the next fortnight as he looks to recover from the setback.

Lynch missed several weeks throughout the course of the 2021 season after requiring surgery on his knee, sidelining him between 10 and 16.

The two-time premiership forward will now be on the mend again as his side sit two months out from their Round 1 bout with Carlton.

Richmond also have pre-season matches scheduled for late February to early March, with practice games against Geelong and Hawthorn on their calendar.

Should no further setbacks emerge for Lynch, the 193-gamer will likely be fit to feature in the yellow and black for both of those matches.

Lynch has played 62 games since heading south to Tigerland from the Gold Coast at the end of the 2018 season, playing a key role in their recent successes.
