Cotchin. Riewoldt. Grigg. Astbury. Graham.

All 2017 premiership players. All injured and in doubt to play in the coming weeks, according to Richmond's physical performance manager Peter Burge.

Riewoldt is expected to return in late June due to a sprain to his PCL in his right knee against Melbourne in the ANZAC Day Eve clash.

Burge believes the injury will keep him sidelined to about round 15.

"He hasn't had a lot of luck this year, but we'll probably look to after the bye as a realistic return," Burge told richmond.fc.com.au's Roar Vision.

"In the short-term, he won't be doing too much then we'll slowly progress his running and make sure he's strong and when he returns to play, he'll be ready.

"All the guys that go through rehab, they'll go through a rigorous process, so if they can survive rehab generally they'll survive the game."

31-year-old midfielder Shaun Grigg has also suffered another setback in his return to AFL footy as he has developed a hip issue in addition to his current knee injury.

Burge told the site on Monday that Grigg will be sidelined for quite some time, and they're unsure if the two injuries are related.

"Currently with Shaun, we're dealing with the hip issue and we're looking at different avenues of how to progress that and get to a level where he can increase his intensity in training," Burge said.

"But it's certainly probably not going to be in the short term. We're probably looking still at the long term and getting him right and back with the group."

Grigg is yet to play a game this season and the 214-gamer comes out of contract come season's end.

On top of this, skipper Trent Cotchin is expected to miss games against the Bulldogs, Fremantle and Hawthorn, according to AFL.com.au.

Cotchin suffered a hamstring injury in the round three loss to GWS Giants and remains in a bit of a "holding pattern" in his recovery.

There's speculation that Cotchin could also miss the round 10 Dreamtime clash against the Bombers.

"[It's] very hard to put a time-frame on it. It certainly won't be short term, in the next week or two, but I'd be fairly confident in three to four weeks that we'll see him back on the park," Burge said.

"We'll keep him at about 70-80 per cent speed in the program, and then we'll carefully make that progression to about 85-90-95 per cent full speed over the next couple weeks."

Jack Graham also had a minor setback hurting his hamstring in the VFL on the weekend and will miss this week, writes SEN.

Oleg Markov is expected to return the week after next after minor surgery due to a meniscus injury he suffered.

Mav Weller is rated to play in the reserves after receiving a knock in the back in the VFL.

In better news, David Astbury will be put through the tests to ensure he is ready to take on the Bulldogs this Saturday.

"He'll aim to fully train on Thursday and we'll make an assessment from there if he's ready to play," Burge added.
