For what has been a tumultuous decade for the Melbourne Demons, the club looks to have produced a number of players who may just go down as future club legends.

The Dees have only managed to reach September just once in that time, and while the highly sought after top draft selections came their way, only a few have lived up to the hype.

Many of the club's current best have erected from outside of the club's first-round picks or via father-son selection, with the clubs current future relying on those from their more glorified past.

Five players have won the honour of being selected into the league's All-Australian side over the past 10 seasons, with just the seven total selections shared between the quintet.

After going backwards this season, Melbourne will be desperate to start the new decade with a fresher start, hopefully matching the season they had in 2018.

9. Mark Jamar

One of the Demons' five to be named in an All-Australian side from the past decade, Jamar was named on the 2010 AA bench, pairing with Aaron Sandilands in the ruck.

That season saw 'The Russian' dominate in the ruck, averaging 29 hitouts and 12 touches per match, leading to a podium finish in the club's best and fairest count.

Jamar followed up on a breakout year in the ruck with five straight seasons of 30 hitouts per game ending before his eventual move to Essendon.

An underrated man in the middle of the ground, Jamar was a strong servant for a struggling Melbourne side between 2010 and 2015, with the Dees failing to finish past 12th in the league.

Injuries followed the Melbourne giant for a number of seasons but always gave glimpses of what could have been if he remained fit.

Jamar capped 17 matches in 2014, returning as one of the league's best tap-ruckman and had his best year since 2010.

His tenure with the Demons ended in 2015, failing to play past round five and retired at season's end. Jamar pulled on the Essendon jumper the next season after a dozen players faced suspensions for their doping saga.
