For what has been a tumultuous decade for the Melbourne Demons, the club looks to have produced a number of players who may just go down as future club legends.

The Dees have only managed to reach September just once in that time, and while the highly sought after top draft selections came their way, only a few have lived up to the hype.

Many of the club's current best have erected from outside of the club's first-round picks or via father-son selection, with the clubs current future relying on those from their more glorified past.

Five players have won the honour of being selected into the league's All-Australian side over the past 10 seasons, with just the seven total selections shared between the quintet.

After going backwards this season, Melbourne will be desperate to start the new decade with a fresher start, hopefully matching the season they had in 2018.

8. Neville Jetta

Stories between the Demons' playing group don't get more astounding than that of Neville Jetta's.

Injuries and long features for Casey saw Jetta delisted by the club at the end of the 2013 season, where he would soon be picked up by the Dees in the Rookie draft.

Jetta was added to the club's senior list in 2014 after Jack Trengrove was placed on the long-term injury list.

That year saw Jetta become the agile and nifty small defender he is known for, earning a two-year contract extension in August following 16 games for the season.

Jetta became an obvious first choice defender for the Demons and added to his value year after year.

By the end of the 2017 season, Jetta was unlucky to miss out on an All-Australian nomination after a career-best year on Melbourne's half-back flank. Jetta was rewarded with a spot on the Australian International Rules squad.

In the Demon's best year for quite some time, Jetta played all 25 games in 2018 and was a key cog for their finals push that subsequently saw them finish fourth. Jetta finished the year with a disposal efficiency of 83.5%, ranking as one of the league's best users of the ball.

Jetta was added to the Demons leadership group for the 2019 season following a promising year prior. Unfortunately, injuries riddled his year, limiting him to just the seven games.
