For what has been a tumultuous decade for the Melbourne Demons, the club looks to have produced a number of players who may just go down as future club legends.
The Dees have only managed to reach September just once in that time, and while the highly sought after top draft selections came their way, only a few have lived up to the hype.
Many of the club's current best have erected from outside of the club's first-round picks or via father-son selection, with the clubs current future relying on those from their more glorified past.
Five players have won the honour of being selected into the league's All-Australian side over the past 10 seasons, with just the seven total selections shared between the quintet.
After going backwards this season, Melbourne will be desperate to start the new decade with a fresher start, hopefully matching the season they had in 2018.
2. Max Gawn
Frequently injured or holding down the role of Mark Jamar's understudy, Max Gawn's career took some time to ignite, but it was worth the wait.
Gawn battled with knee and hamstring injuries both before and after being drafted by the Demons in 2009.
It took Gawn another six years to find his 'breakout' season in the red and navy blue, where he ended the 2015 season with 484 hitouts (37.31 per game), the eight best season at the club at the time.
Gawn surpassed that benchmark in 2016, 2018 and 2019, with those three seasons ranked as the best by any Melbourne ruckman in the club's history.
Gawn finished 2018 with 1,119 hitouts for the year, the most by a single player in league history.
As for personal accolades, Gawn has won the club's last two best and fairests, has three selections into the All-Australian squad and was crowned the AFLCA's player of the year in 2018.
Gawn has also polled 60 Brownlow votes for his career, more than 0.5 per game, and finished equal 4th in 2018 on 20 votes for the season.
Adding to his dominance in the big man game, Gawn is an elite user of the ball and continues to break the norms of 'ruck craft'.
The 208cm man for Melbourne has enjoyed a personal rivalry with Collingwood's Brodie Grundy and will continue down the path as one of the best ruckmen this league has seen.
