Adelaide midfielder Sam Berry has knocked back rival interest to remain at the club until the end of 2026.
Berry had a slow start to the season before finding his place in the side, playing every game since Round 11.
However, in the back half of the 2024 campaign, the 22-year-old was able to cement a position in the midfield, as coach Matthew Nicks looked to alter how his engine room looked.
Berry was flagged as a potential trade target for Collingwood given his ties to Victoria and their need to inject some youth into the midfield.
However, the right-footer has put Adelaide fans at ease, ensuring his future for the medium-term will be at West Lakes.
“I'm pumped, I've loved my last four years here and can't wait to be here for a couple more so I'm absolutely stoked,” Berry said.
“I was obviously in and out of the team early in the season but to get some continuity at the back end was pleasing.
“There are a lot of positives to come out of the season, the young boys coming in and getting some experience – Zac Taylor in the midfield, Billy Dowling out on the wing and Dan Curtin showing the type of player he's going to be – so it was great to play some footy with them.”
Crows GM of List Management and Strategy Justin Reid said he was impressed with Berry's development since being drafted with Pick 28 in the 2020 National Draft.
“We love what Sam brings and are really pleased with his progression since being drafted,” Reid said.
“He demonstrates all the attributes that we value highly – hard work, a strong defensive mindset, team-first attitude and a thirst for the contest – so we are thrilled that he has recommitted to our Club for the next two years.”
