Melbourne star Christian Petracca has been sighted at the club's Monday training session despite suffering a nasty injury setback late last week.

Petracca - who missed the back half of 2024 with multiple broken ribs and a lacerated spleen - was revealed to have sustained a repeat of the injury, with the Demons saying "Christian received a knock to the rib area in a contest", leaving him with a cracked rib.

A timeline was yet to be made for the 2021 Norm Smith medallist's recovery, but, to the delight of Melbourne fans, was spotted running at training.

It is understood that Petracca didn't participate in any contact drills but has continued working on his fitness.

According to theย Herald Sun, captain Max Gawn, defender Jake Lever and youngster Taj Woewodin also trained away from the main group as they recover from their respective injuries.

Gawn is being eased back into training following a peculiar injury he sustained before the Christmas break.

The seven-time All-Australia suffered a fractured larynx, forcing the club to sideline for a fortnight, followed by a month of non-contact training.

Lever underwent a knee arthroscope and shoulder surgery during the off-season and is making his way back toward full training.
