A trade price for contracted West Coast defender Tom Barrass has reportedly been set, with the Sydney Swans expected to be asked to part with a first round draft pick should they wish to secure the premiership winner's services.

Having signed a five-year extension in 2021 to remain with the Eagles until 2027, the 27-year-old is said to be keen to trade Perth for the Harbour City ahead of 2024.

As reported by News Corp, Barrass is set earn around $3 million across the next four seasons, yet with the Eagles facing a salary cap squeeze, the former powerhouse is reportedly keen to shop its reigning best and fairest winner.

At present, Sydney currently holds the 7th selection of the 2023 AFL Draft, however, it is yet to be seen whether the Moore Park club will consider splitting the pick in order to retain ground.

The Swans' desire to beef up their backline comes after head coach John Longmire has been forced to operate with a threadbare last line for large portions of the season, with Paddy McCartin and co-captain Dane Rampe spending extended periods on the sideline.

It is not known yet whether McCartin, a former No.1 draft pick himself, will continue on in 2024 due to repeated issues with concussion since debuting as a Saint in 2015.

Still ensconced within the year from hell, the silver lining for the Eagles comes in the form of their own present draft hand, with West Coast currently armed with picks 1, 19, 36, 38, 55, 57 and 75.
