Carlton's VFL outfit has been bolstered by the addition of a former Richmond and West Coast Eagles midfielder.

Patrick Naish, who was cut by both the Tigers and Eagles after a combined five seasons as an AFL-listed player, has officially joined the VFL Blues ahead of the 2024 season.

Naish was originally swooped up by Richmond as a father-son selection in 2017, as his father, Chris, played over 100 games for the Tigers in the 1990s.

The 24-year-old then brought his outside run to Lathlain for 11 outings as an Eagle throughout the 2022 campaign.

Carlton VFL senior coach Luke Power spoke glowingly of Naish's experience playing at the professional level.

"The acquisition of Patty is great for the Club. Patty brings an understanding of what a successful environment looks like and will bring plenty of energy to the group," Power said on Friday.

"On-field, he has the versatility to cover several positions including the midfield, where he has the run and ball use to break lines.

"I was fortunate to coach Patty when he was younger, and he will bring some great attributes on and off the field for us.

"We are really excited to welcome him into the Club and can't wait to see what he can produce in 2024."

The addition of Naish joins that of Ned Cahill -- formerly AFL-listed at Essendon -- who also signed with the VFL Blues for next season's campaign.
