The impressive form of young Western Bulldogs pair Josh Dunkley and Caleb Daniel has been rewarded with the pair inking three-year contract extensions.

Daniel has cemented a place as one of the competition's breakout defensive stars in 2019, while Dunkley puts pen to paper in the midst of career-best form through the midfield, capped off with arguably his best game to date in a rollercoaster win over Carlton Saturday night.

Bulldogs list and recruiting manager Sam Power told westernbulldogs.com.au of his delight at securing the signatures of two talents held in high regard at Whitten Oval.

"We are confident they will be successful, long-term players for the Bulldogs, and these re-signings reflect their confidence in our direction as a club," Power said.

"Caleb is composed under pressure and a real competitor - traits which we value really highly.

Josh finished the 2018 season in strong fashion, and has taken his game to a new level this year."

22-year-old 2016 premiership player Daniel was brought to the club in the 2014 National Draft with pick 46 that originally came from Carlton in a trade for Liam Jones, notching up 86 appearances to date.

Against the Blues last weekend, he amassed 32 disposals alongside five marks and three rebound-50's, a stat for which he ranks inside the AFL's top 10.

Fellow 22-year-old flag-winner Dunkley arrived with pick 25 a year later from Gippsland Power, and has become an important cog in the Dogs' engine.

After bringing up his 50th game in the Round 7 win over Richmond, he's averaged more than 32 disposals a game since, highlighted by a career and game-high 41 touches as well as 10 tackles, which he also sits tenth in the AFL for, and a classy goal in the opening term last round.

"Caleb and Josh have both shown their ability to perform consistently at AFL level, and we are delighted to have them locked in for three more years," Power said.
