Star Melbourne midfielder and vice-captain Jack Viney could be up for grabs, with two Victorian clubs believing the 26-year old is available for the right price.

According to Fox Sports, there are serious questions being asked about Melbourne's willingness to keep Viney around on a big money contract.

As such, both Geelong and Carlton feel that he is available to be poached from the Demons

With Viney set to become a restricted free agent, rival clubs believe he is a genuine chance to leave Melbourne.

Fox Sports also understand that Viney will be discussing his future in the coming days with his family. His father Todd, played 233 games for the club and captained the Demons in 1998 and 1999.

While news of the Cats' interest in Viney has taken those closest to him by surprise, Melbourne have made no secret that they are pursuing outside run in the off-season with Essendon's Adam Saad a highly-sought target.

Melbourne have two superstar inside midfielders already in Clayton Oliver and Christian Petracca and this desire to add an outside threat could see inside midfielder Viney be shown the door.

In his time at the Demons, Viney has been a model of consistency, only missing one game this season and playing 135 games since making his debut in 2013.

The tough onballer also won Melbourne's best and fairest in 2016 and captained the club from 2017 to 2019.
