An uncapped AFL tall could land the ruck role in next month's Indigenous All Stars clash given the lack of eligible ruckmen listed for the season ahead.
West Coast's Coen Livingstone, St Kilda's Isaac Keeler and Geelong's Mitch Edwards are the only listed Indigenous ruckmen for 2025, with all three players yet to get a look at AFL level in the early stages of their careers.
Both Livingstone and Edwards are entering their second seasons in the top flight, while Keeler is set to commence his third campaign for the Saints.
Keeler has been positioned as a forward and defender during most of his 26 career VFL games with the Sandringham Dragons, making him an unlikely ruck option for the Indigenous All Stars despite his 198cm frame.
Edwards, who stops the tape at 206cm, might not be risked by the Cats as the teenager comes off a rookie season heavily interrupted by a back issue.
Livingstone managed 18 games for West Coast's WAFL unit in 2024, amassing averages of 8.1 disposals and 10.4 hitouts per game as a ruck-forward at the state league level.
"I hope (he gets picked). I keep putting pressure on him, saying 'you might be playing'," Eagles forward Liam Ryan said of Livingstone's playing chances on Thursday.
"You never know, it might get them a little bit of experience."
Any task for the Indigenous All Stars ruckman could be a daunting one, with Fremantle home to a lethal combination of Luke Jackson and Sean Darcy.
Darcy might not suit up for the showcase game as he continues to manage his workloads off the back of post-season knee surgery.
The All Stars selectors could call on other key position players to aid the ruck role for the mid-February match, with the likes of Jeremy Finlayson, Ash Johnson, Jy Farrar and Joel Jeffrey among those capable of slotting into a ruck role despite their height disadvantage to most ruck counterparts.
The All Stars could have other key positions names in Liam Jones, Steven May, Jamarra Ugle-Hagan and Joel Hamling listed, depending on availability, with Dockers defender Alex Pearce among those already confirmed to feature.
Callum Ah Chee, Shai Bolton, Charlie Cameron, Bobby Hill, Brad Hill, Jarman Impey, Kysaiah Pickett, Izak Rankine and Michael Walters join Ryan and Pearce in already being confirmed selections.
The Indigenous All Stars vs Fremantle match is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 15 at Optus Stadium.
