Veteran Eagles midfielder Andrew Gaff is reportedly open to a late-career trade should the move benefit West Coast's current rebuild.

Gaff, 31, was once regarded as one of the competition's premier midfielders, however, now five years on from his most recent All-Australian appearance, the previously prolific ball-winner has seen his stocks plummet, collecting just six touches against Brisbane last Saturday.

The 2015 John Worsfold medallist remains contracted until the cessation of the 2014 season, yet, with News Corp reporting that Gaff is still due $700,000 in the final year of his deal, the Eagles may be open to a salary dump, not only easing cap space but also open a roster a spot for their rebuild.

Given Gaff's dip in the disposal count, should West Coast part ways with the Victorian, the club would likely be forced to eat a portion of Gaff's contract.

But with head coach Adam Simpson committed to blooding youth in the centre of the ground, the price may well be one the Eagles are content to pay, especially if significant trade parts are to come their way in return.

As stated by News Corp, Gaff is yet to receive any rival interest at this stage of the season.

Gaff will earn the opportunity to bust out of his slump when West Coast plays host to Richmond during the Sunday twilight spot.
