The 2024 VFL season is set to commence on the weekend of March 23-24, running until late September as a 21-team competition.

Following the introduction of a Wildcard Round to open the finals this year, the VFL will again have a round of do-or-die finals for clubs that finish between seventh and 10th on the ladder.

The 2024 Wildcard Round will commence on the weekend of August 24-25, with the VFL Grand Final to take place a month later on Sunday, September 22.

The VFLW season will also commence across March 23-24, with a 14-week home and away season confirmed for the Women's competition. There will be no competition byes for the 14 clubs participating.

A four-week 2024 VFLW finals series will take place on the weekend of June 29-30, concluding with the season decider on Sunday, July 21.ย
