West Coast defender Jeremy McGovern is already the subject of a mega-deal, with a Victorian club reportedly offering the free agent a six-year deal worth over $7 million.

The Herald Sun believe at least three Melbourne clubs are chasing the 25-year-old, with one club in particular already moving ahead of the pack with a deal worth $1.2 million for all six years.

The Eagles are keen to retain McGovern's services, with a report last month suggesting they had offered their star defender a five-year deal worth $4 million.

McGovern is one of the stars entering free agency at the end of the season, and will be the arguably the biggest fish in the pool behind Gold Coast co-captain Tom Lynch, who is also out of contract at season's end.

McGovern has played 79 games for the Eagles since making his debut in round six, 2014, and averages 6.6 marks and 14.8 disposals per game.
