Melbourne is reportedly looking at former Carlton coach and Richmond assistant David Teague as the club faces an off-field reshuffle.

The Demons currently have two vacant positions due to the departures of Andrew McQualter - who has been announced as the West Coast head coach - and Greg Stafford.

The former Blues boss has links with Melbourne GM of Football Alan Richardson from days at IKON Park.

According toย AFL Media, Teague met with the Demons in recent weeks and is a viable option to join the club before the pre-season begins.

Teague departed the Tigers in July this year following 17 years of experience to explore broader opportunities potentially outside of coaching.

The 43-year-old moved from the senior coaching position at Carlton after taking over from Brendon Bolton, leading Carlton for 50 games before Michael Voss took his place.

Teague previously had assistant coaching stints at the Blues, Adelaide, St Kilda and West Coast after commencing his career as senior coach of the Northern Bullantsย at just 26 years of age.

The Demons have also expressed their interest in landing former Adelaide captain Rory Sloane, which would be an ideal acquisition given their need of leadership amongst the club.

Former Port Adelaide assistant Nathan Basset is also on Melbourne's radar, with the club keen to reunite coach Simon Goodwin with his former Crows teammate.

The unrest at the Demons comes as disgruntled stars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver have surveyed their options, with the former seemingly committed to 2025.

However, Oliver's recent meeting with Geelong has sparked a frenzy, with a meeting with the club's powerbrokers set to decide his future as he still has six years left on his contract.

This would mark the second consecutive year that the four-time best and fairest winner is exploring moves to rival clubs, with Adelaide failing last year.
